Have you been thinking about starting a blog but haven’t gotten to it yet? You’re not alone. I thought about a starting a blog long before I actually put White & Beige together. I wish I started it sooner but thought that there were so many resources that I didn’t have access to. A professional camera, a photographer, creative ideas for content, enough time, website building skills, etc. the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, they were all excuses. When I really got serious about blogging, I found a wonderful photographer to get me started before I bought my own camera, I brainstormed as much content as possible, I spent countless hours watching YouTube videos teaching myself how to code (I swear, I got a few grey hairs from doing this) and had a good friend of mine help me with my logo. It’s all possible and shouldn’t deter you from getting started.
White & Beige was (and still is) a big work in progress but is incredibly rewarding. It’s not easy putting yourself out there but I’ve had so much fun connecting with all of you along the way.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a blog, here are 3 reasons why you should:
1). It’s a distraction from your job, your classes, stress, etc.
Blogging is a release and is a wonderful distraction from everyday life. I love coming home after a long day of working and blogging about whatever I want, to whoever wants to take the time to read it. I love blogging about sales that I have my eye on, fashion I’m into at the moment, recipes, etc. I’ve come to realize that the more I blog about helpful things such as a hot sale, an inexpensive recipe, etc. the more excited I am to do it. It took me almost a year and a half to find my blogging niche so definitely make sure you have patience in the beginning. I wasn’t always motivated to write posts. I really needed to branch out and write about different things to find out what excited me. Some people find their niche quicker than others but don’t lose hope!
2). You will meet people that you would never meet otherwise.
As a blogger, you go to a lot of events where you see a bunch of fresh faces. It gives you the opportunity to branch out of your comfortable friend group and meet new people who share similar interests. It’s so fun to hear about what people enjoy blogging about or where they see their blog going in the future. I’ve met some really cool people that I know I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for W & B.
3). It’ll give you something to look back on.
One of the main reasons I started White & Beige was to have something to look back on in the future. I was 22 when I started this journey and thought that time was going by insanely fast. I couldn’t believe that I was almost done with college and I wanted to be able to look back on something down the road. I often go back and read my first couple posts (which are incredibly laughable now!!) to see where I was a year and a half ago. I love seeing the fashion I was into, what was on my mind at the time, etc. Having something to look back on is one of my favorite parts about this journey.
